Position Summary
The Sales Manager will be responsible for leading and developing the sales function, managing key client relationships, and driving business growth across assigned markets. The role involves overseeing sales activities, identifying new business opportunities, and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will be commercially driven, strategically minded, and experienced in managing sales performance within a competitive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement sales strategies aligned with the Company’s overall business objectives to achieve and exceed revenue, margin, and growth targets.
- Own sales planning, forecasting, and budgeting processes, with accountability for performance against agreed KPIs.
- Manage and strengthen relationships with key strategic clients while driving expansion into new accounts, markets, and regions.
- Oversee pricing strategies, contract terms, and commercial negotiations to ensure profitability and sustainable growth.
- Identify, evaluate, and pursue new business opportunities, partnerships, and market segments.
- Lead high-level negotiations and manage complex commercial agreements.
- Act as the primary escalation point for key customer and commercial issues, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure efficient execution of sales, delivery, and after-sales support.
- Prepare and present sales performance reports, forecasts, and strategic insights to senior management.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and industry developments to support strategic decision-making.
- Represent the company with principals, partners, and at industry events, exhibitions, and client meetings internationally.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the sales team, fostering a high-performance, results-driven sales culture.
Qualifications & Skills
- University degree in Business Administration, Shipping, or a related field; MBA or equivalent is a plus.
- Proven experience in sales management or senior sales leadership, ideally in maritime, energy, or related sectors.
- Track record of consistently achieving or exceeding revenue, margin, and growth targets.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage, mentor, and develop high-performing sales teams.
- Strategic thinker with excellent analytical, market assessment, and business planning capabilities.
- Expertise in pricing strategies, commercial negotiations, and contract management to ensure sustainable profitability.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, capable of building and maintaining relationships with key strategic clients and partners.
- Skilled in monitoring KPIs, preparing sales performance reports, and presenting actionable insights to senior management.
- Highly organized, self-motivated, results-driven, and able to handle complex escalations professionally.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with CRM tools is an advantage.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills in English.
